ecoHack: Wedding Edition

What happens at the bachelorette party, stays at the bachelorette party, right? WRONG! Give your bride-to-be an ecosystem album filled with photos, receipts (What bar bill?!), inside jokes and well…you know.

reactionary:

I liked the Ecosystem version more. Partly because it’s more colorful, and probably cheaper too. I’m not going to deny that the Moleskine one is pretty, though.

Plus it’s much, much better for Mother Earth!

The fine folks at ecosystem put out a call for people to hack their large notebooks in service of creating an iPad cover. I volunteered, and a large, flexi-cover, lagoon notebook showed up at my door a few weeks ago. I finally got a chance to play with the notebook today, and I think the hack…

We asked for willing participants to hack an ecosystem and David rose to the challenge. Check out his tumblr for the step-by-step process. It will blow your mind.

Do you have a cool/crazy/awesome idea for an ecosystem hack? Let us know. We’ll supply you with the notebook. You supply us with the hack and how to!

Top 3 Things To Do With Your ecosystem Notebook at a Party

  1. Food Journal: For all the foodies out there, what better way to keep track of your new favorite canapé or cocktail that you’ve just tasted than in your ecosystem journal? Use a small Clementine, Kiwi or Watermelon ecosystem to keep track of the fare and pairings at your summer parties!

  2. Mini Scrapbook on-the-go: ecosystem’s Artist notebooks are perfectly sized to hold your keepsakes. Store ticket stubs, fliers and stickers in the back pocket insert for easy storage until you get home.

  3. Meet & Greet Journal: Wish you could take notes on the conversations you have with the people you’ve just been introduced to? Store their card in the back pocket insert as a business card holder for the night!

Jessica is using her ecosystem notebook to write storyboards for her next short film, How to Start a Revolution. It’s a stop motion public optimism project.

Very cool! Best of luck!

Win It: Sustainable Notebooks by ecosystem

nutritionista:

Something you may not know about me: I’m an organization/clean FREAK. I’m a fiend for anything that keeps me more organized. So when ecosystem contacted me about their line of eco-friendly notebooks, noting that they make for great food or workout journals, I was pretty excited to try them out.

I was even more excited when I learned more about the company. I like my notebooks how I like my meat: sustainable. Ecosystems’ goods fit the bill:

An ecosystem notebook has a unique past, present and future: The book’s past is the various parts made of 100% post-consumer recycled paper, its present is your thoughts and ideas recorded on the pages, and the future is your next step: save the book, or recycle it.

The company sent me three notebooks: one “authors” (lined pages) and two “artists” (blank pages). The notebooks also come in “architect” (graph paper) and “advisor” (planner-style).

I’ve been using my kiwi artist notebook as a blog planner and my lagoon artist notebook as a workout log. I haven’t decided what to use my watermelon author notebook for quite yet!

Besides page styles, the notebooks come in various sizes, cover textures, and colors (onyx, watermelon, lagoon, clementine, and kiwi). They just feel really high-end, and they’re super durable. I’ve been toting mine around with me, and they still look new.

Okay, now here’s the fun part: You could win the ecosystem notebook of your choice!
